Giants Lose to Dodgers

There is No United Nations

That's what Mr. John Bolton thinks. So the question is, why does he want to be an ambassador to the United Nations if he thinks there is no United Nations? What kind of message is Bush sending to the world? That he thinks the United Nations is trivial, that it is useless. Why else send someone to represent you at that body who doesn't think that body exists?

I like this quote from Democracy Now
"But Bolton's nomination has stunned many in Washington because he has been one of the Bush administration's fiercest critics of the UN. In 1994, he said, "If the UN secretariat building in New York lost 10 stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference." Four years later he said, "There is no United Nations. There is an international community that occasionally can be led by the only real power left in the world, and that is the United States, when it suits our interest, and when we can get others to go along."

It seems the Saudis are making more than just symbolic moves to appease the West, but are actually changing their style, to finally join us in the modern world. Took them long enough!
